in partnership with the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education ( DESE)
- offers the largest free-loan library of career and technical education resources in Missouri

What's so special about career & technical education in Missouri?
|
|
|
Technology and global economic competition are combining in unprecedented ways to change work and redefine the Missouri workplace.
Unlike jobs a half-century ago, most of Missouri's jobs that pay family-supporting wages and offer opportunities for advancement
demand strong academic and technical skills, technological proficiency, and further education and training beyond high school.
Career & Technical Education links learning to earning, and creates a professionally prepared and economically productive workforce.
In Missouri, career and technical education offers relevancy to educational experiences in agriculture, business and marketing, health
science, family and consumer sciences, industrial technology, and cooperative education. (Within these major program areas, training is
provided in more than 260 specific sub-areas as identified in the National Center for Education Statistics,
Classification of Instructional Programs.)
Missouri's career and technical education delivery system consists of 521 local education agencies, including 441 comprehensive high
schools (52 with area career centers), one technical college (also a career center), 12 community college districts (four with area career centers),
8 four-year institutions, and two state agencies.

When was MCCE established and who funds it?
|
|
|
MCCE was officially established by a grant awarded by the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education
(DESE), effective July 1, 2003. The Center is located at University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg
within the College of Applied Science & Technology, Department of Career and Technology Education.

The extensive collection of MCCE's recently developed curriculum materials is available for download at no charge. This includes the competency profiles, the curriculum guides, and the related classroom support materials.
Materials from the lending library, Resources@MCCE, are available for the cost of return shipping only. MCCE's customized professional development sessions are provided on a per diem contractual basis.
