Information drives decision-making, and strong, relevant research studies are a key source of information. To inform career education professionals and stakeholders, the Missouri Center for Career Education (MCCE) conducts short- and long-term applied studies on topics and issues that impact career education in the state of Missouri.
Whether research topics are identified by state-level agencies, local teachers or other career education stakeholders, the MCCE research projects are designed to provide clearly stated results in an unbiased manner. Our professional staff undertakes needs assessments, pilot project reviews, impact studies, evaluation studies, stakeholder surveys, or custom projects designed to provide the most useful and relevant information.
In addition, MCCE research projects offer opportunities for graduate students and career education practitioners to participate in meaningful research activities in the field, not in isolation.
A strong curriculum is a critical component of a strong program and career educators need current, relevant curriculum materials to support their program instruction, activities, and operations. The Missouri Center for Career Education (MCCE) curriculum projects are focused on providing resources, ideas, direction, and instruction in career education to meet the current needs of Missouri career educators. New projects are identified and conducted in cooperation with the Division of Career Education of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Our curriculum projects take the form of competency profile development, scope and sequence guides, activity guides, and other documents to help instructors develop and deliver programs that are right for their community while meeting state requirements. Career education instructors and practitioners from appropriate content areas make up the core of the developers for these projects, ensuring that the content is both useful for the classroom and aligned with business and industry practices. Our staff is committed to providing Missouri education stakeholders with current curriculum information and resources, and to making sure that newly developed curriculum materials are readily accessible to instructors.
