A vast array of new options have been developed in computers and handheld devices that affect the way we think, work, communicate, and learn. Students are now being challenged to keep abreast of these new technologies to compete in modern global environments. To assist instructors as they develop instructional materials that present these new and emerging technologies and expand critical skills needed by students, the development of a competency profile for Digital Communications is the focus of this project.
The completed project will result in a competency profile for a business education course covering topics which introduce students to Digital Communications. These topics include a review of keyboarding skills, speech recognition, handwriting recognition, handheld devices, workplace application, communication skills, ethical issues, and other technologies deemed significant by the project advisory committee.
