FCS Facilities and Safety Supplement

The Implementation Handbook for Family and Consumer Sciences (2001) was developed to assist instructors with the delivery of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) course content and facilitate student achievement. Based on repeated requests by FCS instructors for a guide to assist them as they set up FCS classrooms and laboratory facilities, the development of a Facilities and Safety Supplement to the 2001 handbook is the focus of this project. The development of this supplement will provide the guidance sought by instructors, provide storage recommendations, and identify safety and sanitation considerations for FCS classrooms and laboratory facilities. The validated supplement will be provided as a package to be added to the existing handbook and will be obtained through the MCCE website.

A committee made up of Family and Consumer Sciences division staff, secondary FCS instructors, and content specialists in the appropriate field are guiding the supplement development process. Missouri Center for Career Education staff includes Ms. Robin Spencer, Project Director, M.S. Family and Consumer Sciences; and graphic production personnel. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education personnel include Ms. Deborah Pohl, Supervisor, Family and Consumer Sciences Education; and staff.
