FCS Housing Environments & Design Resource Guide

The newly revised Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS), Housing Environments and Design competency profile document was released for instructor use in 2005. To further assist instructors and enhance the usability of the competency profile, the development of a resource document for the Housing Environments and Design high school level semester course in the FCS curriculum is the focus of this project. The resource document will provide instructors with information and an annotated bibliography consisting of current, readily available, and relevant instructional resources that support skill development, critical thinking, and practical problem-solving as they develop a local FCS curriculum. Additionally, as part of this project, the Housing and Interior Design competency profile will be cross walked with the Grade Level Expectations (GLEs).

A committee made up of Family and Consumer Sciences division staff, secondary FCS instructors, and content specialists in the appropriate field are guiding the resource document development process. Missouri Center for Career Education staff includes Mr.Donald Scott, Project Director, Senior Research & Curriculum Specialist; and graphic production personnel. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education personnel include Ms. Debbie Pohl, Supervisor, Family and Consumer Sciences Education; and staff.
