In 2005, a committee made up of Department of Health and Senior Services staff, Health Science instructors, and practitioners in the appropriate field guided the development of the Certified In-Home Aide manual. The new manual reflects current regulations, content, and technological changes that impact In-Home Aides and In-Home Aide Providers, and is structured as a short-term offering potentially leading towards a certification that is portable in Missouri. To further develop and validate the new manual, a pilot study including participation by In-Home Aide provider agencies and area high schools and career centers is the focus of this project.
Project staff includes Mr. Donald Scott, Project Director, Missouri Center for Career Education; Gavin Allen, Director, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education; and Carol Thoenen, Department of Health and Human Services.
