New School Leader Training

The New School Leader Training is sponsored by MAESP, MASSP, MCCTA , MO-CASE and DESE and will be held at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City on Thursday and Friday, August 3 and 4, 2006. New administrators are encouraged to attend this professional development workshop based on the ISLLC Standards. A variety of issues pertinent to new principals, assistant principals, career and special education directors will be presented in large and small group sessions.

Sponsored by the Missouri Partnership for Mentoring School Leaders (MPMSL) and includes membership from the following: DESE & RPDC's, MAESP, MASSP, MCCTA, MO-CASE, MPEA, and MSBA. Supported by a grant from The Wallace Foundation.

New School Leader Training

All new administrators are to have a mentor for two years as a part of their re-certification. For those participating in the state-sponsored mentoring program, there is a fee of $450 for two years. This program is supported by a grant from the Wallace Foundation and is coordinated through the Leadership Academy and DESE.

If a district provides in-district mentoring and an individual wishes only to participate in the New School Leader Training without the commitment to the state mentoring program, there is a fee of $100.00 to cover costs of speakers, materials and meals. The registration fee includes dinner on August 3 and continental breakfast on August 4.
