Designed for teachers new to the strategies and methodologies of Contextual Learning (CL), this workshop offers a review of research regarding the contextual nature of the human brain, and the value of context in facilitating learning for all students. An examination and comparison of traditional teaching procedures and contextual learning approaches will allow the participants to gain an understanding of the challenges and advantages of CL.
This workshop will help participants to learn practical methods for teaching basic academic skills through work-related connections and hands-on activities. A major aspect of the workshop will be CL instructional strategies incorporating techniques that help students become more actively engaged as learners and reflective about their experiences.
