Guidance System of Support Overview and Goals
Spring Meeting 2013

Annual fall and spring Guidance System of Support (GSOS) meetings are held at area career centers across the state for all K-12 counselors within that consortium. All meetings follow the same agenda, are facilitated by a Career Education Coordinator and focus on enhancing comprehensive guidance programs.

Spring 2013: MSIP5 - Guidance Expectations

Overview: This Spring Guidance System of Support (GSOS) meeting will focus on MSIP5 expectations, changes, impact, and accountability measures for guidance and counseling programs. Counselors will collaboratively review the MSIP5 Guidance Checklist to evaluate their program through this lens. Time will be devoted to share guidance and counseling best practices. Participants will develop goals and strategies for their program that address MSIP5 expectations and enhance their program. Counselors are encouraged to bring their guidance calendars.

Goals: As a result of this professional development experiences, participants will:

1. Be able to describe the MSIP5 changes and expectations for guidance and counseling programs.
2. Evaluate their program using the MSIP5 Checklist.
3. Collaborate and share guidance and counseling best practices.
4. Insure MSIP5 expectations are addressed in their guidance calendar.
5. Develop program goals and strategies that address MSIP5 expectations.
